Schalenblende is a botryoidal aggregate composed primarily of Sphalerite and Wurtzite found in zinc rich hydrothermal veins and as concretions in sedimentary rock. Sphalerite is a zinc iron sulfide mineral and a major ore of zinc. Wurtzite is a zinc iron sulfide and a minor ore of zinc. Schalenblende may also contain quantities of Pyrite and Galena.
